Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, has decorated his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Olua Moses Chigoziem and 4 other newly promoted police officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

During the event which took place on Monday, Governor Otti also decorated Aguwa Goodluck, Escort Commander to the Governor, Okejim Desmond Chukwuma, Escort Commander to the wife of the Governor, Chukwudi Joshua Nnanna, Administration Officer – Security, Government House, and Nnaji Peter Ekwe.

During his speech, the governor thanked God and congratulated the Officers for their promotion saying that although they must have worked hard to be promoted but it was by the grace of God that they were singled out for promotion among the many others qualified.

“Let me start by thanking God for your promotion. Sometimes, when we are promoted, the tendency to appropriate the promotion as it’s something that happened because we worked hard; of course you must have worked hard to be found in the circle of those that will be promoted. But, you will also agree with me that there may have been a lot of other people that worked hard, maybe more harder but were not even shortlisted, not to talk of being amongst the people that are promoted”.

“Hard work is a necessary condition but not a sufficient condition. And, I think that sufficiency comes from God”.

“I want to congratulate all of you for attaining a new height. Before you were ad-judged worthy of the new rank you now wear, a lot would have been expected of you. So, when you are compensated with promotion, it requires that you double your efforts and work even harder to justify the confidence that the force has in you”.

“I have no doubt that you will do well and I pray that promotion will continue to come your way” Gov. Otti declared.

He commended the officers for the excellent work they are doing in the State.

“I also want to put on record the excellent work that all of you have been doing around here. It is a 24-hour job. I am happy that at any time you are called upon; sometimes midnight, sometimes beyond midnight, you are always ready” the Governor stated.
