The former Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development and President of Master Energy Group, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Abia/Ibeku-born Squadron Leader Ahamefule Aham Man-Ugwueje, one of the pilots of the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft, NAF 931, which crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Dr. Uche Ogah described the tragic incident and the loss of Squadron Leader Man-Ugwueje and other military personnel aboard the aircraft as painful, devastating and deeply heartbreaking, noting that their deaths have brought immense sorrow to his families, colleagues, friends, loved ones, the Nigerian Air Force and the entire nation.
According to Dr. Ogah, the death of Squadron Leader Man-Ugwueje is particularly heartbreaking, having occurred barely two weeks after he solemnised his marriage to his beloved wife, Flight Lieutenant Damilola Adekunle, in Abuja.
He said the tragedy has cruelly cut short the young couple’s opportunity to build and share the life they had only just begun together, describing the development as a profound loss that has left their families and loved ones in unimaginable grief.
“The death of Squadron Leader Ahamefule Aham Man-Ugwueje is deeply painful and devastating. That he passed away barely two weeks after his wedding makes this tragedy even more heartbreaking. My heart goes out to his newly wedded wife, his family, friends and colleagues, as well as the entire Ibeku community and the Nigerian Air Force. May God grant them the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss”
Dr. Uche Ogah also commiserated with the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Nigerian Air Force, the families of all the military personnel who lost their lives, and the people of Ondo State over the tragic air disaster.
He extended his deepest condolences to the Man-Ugwueje family, the people of Ibeku in Abia State, and all those mourning the fallen military personnel, while praying Almighty God to grant the bereaved families comfort, strength and fortitude at this difficult time.
Dr. Uche Ogah further prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and asked God to grant them eternal rest in His bosom.
Signed:
