Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers on Friday reportedly killed a police officer, robbed a foreigner believed to be connected with RS Lottery outlet around mission hill in Umuahia, candidreporters gathered.
The robbers were said to have be shooting sporadically when they reportedly trailed the the man who was said to be white skinned to the scene of attack.
The incidence, has kept residents of the vicinity to scamper for safety.
Men of the Nigerian Police were later seen in the vicinity and around bank monitoring suspected movement.
Candidreporters.com also gathered that traders and motorists in the area have taken to their heels with their wares to avoid being hit by bullets.
Candidreporters.com also noted that as a result of the incident at mission hill Bende road, the area were the Nigeria Police facilities such as the Central Police Station, (CPS) and the Command headquarters was barricaded causing motorist to take alternative routes. Shops were closed, and the road totally deserted.
As at the time of filling this report, efforts to reach the Police Public Relations of the Abia State Police Command, SP Godfrey Ogbonna, for comments was yet to pull through.
