The Abia North Senatorial District Representative, Nigerian Youth Parliament, on Saturday held a Youth Press Conference in Umuahia, the Abia State Capital with the theme; “Unveiling The Abia North Agenda, Key To Sustainable Leadership.”

Hon. Chris Chiagozie, the member representing the youths of Abia North Senatorial District in the Nigeria youth parliament, also the convener of the event in his speech affirms that he is saddled with the responsibility of representing the youths of Abia North at all levels.

In the press briefing, Hon Chris said as part of his responsibility, he has been working hard to unveil the political, economic and social challenges that the Youths of Abia North has been battling with, likewise making consultations that will benefit youths of Abia North.

In his words: “I have been consulting leaders of the region which is geared towards putting Abia in the world map and creating the enabling environment for youths in Abia North. It’s not about me, but how to better the Youths of Abia North.”

Hon. Chris also charged Abia youths to be proactive and have a visionary attitude. He lauded the infrastructural development of Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, while commending Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the development and pleaded that same should be replicated in Abia North. He also charged the Abia State House of Assembly members to make laws that are youth oriented.

“We call on them to factor in laws that will integrate and orientate the youths in the development of Abia State. The youths are the leaders of today and of tomorrow. So we are calling on the speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, RT. Hon Enyinnaya Chinedum Orji to make laws that will better the Youths of Abia State.” Hon Chris said.

Hon Chris also lauded the service of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on the infrastructural development of Abia North and applauded his zeal to run for the office of the president of Nigeria come 2023 , while stating the quest of youths in Abia North.

“I want to make a remark here that the youths of Abia North will overwhelming support Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the office of the president and we are also calling on the senator that represented Abia North in the 8th Senate, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa to warm up for Senate in 2023.

” In the 2023 election, we are looking at a senator that has legislative experience.” Hon Chris revealed.

“I am also calling on the youth of Abia North to aspire for elective positive.” Hon Chris added.

Hon Chris also said the Youths of Abia North maintains that the Abia Charter of Equity should be maintained, thus, “the governorship of Abia State Should be rotated to Abia North”.

Hon Chris also hinted that in no distant time, the youths of Abia North will embark on a one-million-man match to pressure their demands.

Lady Oby Nwaobi, Chioma Ndukauba a member of the youth movement tasks government to train the youths on skills acquisition for them to be self employed and be self sufficient, likewise build industries to create job employment.

Comrade Ebenezar Chukwuemeka Kalu, the secretary of the planning committee of the event in his speech challenged the youths to be actively engaged in governance.

Comrade Ebenezar calls on youths to go and get their permanent Voters Card (PVC) to decide who governs them.

“When we decide to sit in our homes, things will remain the same . If we have to play the game of cheese, we have to play according to the rules and if we don’t play according to the rules, we will be won in this game.”
Comrade Ebenezar Chukwuemeka advised youths.

Comrade Ebenezar also pleaded with the government of the day to be youth inclusive in their selection. He also pleaded with political parties to reduce the cost of nomination forms for the affordability of the youths who are aspiring to contest for elective positions.

“When we cannot afford the cost of the nomination forms, we stay back and watch these money bags who has ended up recking our funds” Comrade Ebenezar alarmed.
