Pastor Tunde Bakare, the founding Pastor and Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly on Monday reacted to the developing story surrounding herdsmen in the southwest.

In an interview with Arise TV, he advises the government to be more proactive in handling brewing security matters.

Pastor Bakare also cautioned that Sunday Igboho must not act outside the ambit of the law.

The pastor expressed that he was relieved to hear that Sunday Igboho had apologised to the Ooni of Ife over his inflammatory statement on the roles of the royal father and other Yoruba leaders in handling Fulani herdsmen terrorising the southwest.

His words: “I am happy to hear that Sunday Igboho has apologised, the stool of the Ooni should be respected. While Igboho is trying to defend his people, he should be careful and not break the law in the process.”

He cautioned that there should not be an action that would make Yorubas in Fulani territory feel threatened.

He advised the government to do more in ensuring security of lives and properties.

” We have lived with the Fulani’s and the Fylani’s has lived with us. We must separate this Agricultural pasturisim from the terrorist issues in the forest, government must evict them” Bakare added.

Sunday Igboho had in a viral video apologised to the Ooni of Ife on Thursday morning, stating that he never meant to disrespect the stool of the royal father.

Tunde Bakare is a Nigerian Prophetic-Apostolic pastor. He was reportedly arrested in March 2002 after preaching sermons critical of then president Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was the running mate of the Nigerian presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 Nigerian presidential election. He was formerly a pastor at the Deeper Life Bible Church before he left to join the Redeemed Christian Church of God which he soon left to form his own.
