A few months ago, Governor Alex Otti released tens of thousands of Dollars for the payment of school fees of Abia students who were on scholarship but were later abandoned in India.
Governor Alex Otti also released millions of naira in bursary to support many Law Studenst of Abia Origin in Law School.
We communicated these generous interventions of our Governor during one of our Post-Exco press briefings. It was all over in the news, and Abians rightly commended Governor Otti during News Paper reviews on different radio stations, while the beneficiaries celebrated.
As it’s public knowledge, 300 Abians were sponsored to Nasarawa State last year where they spent weeks and got trained in different Agricultural Skills.
On return, they were organised and provided with funds to enable them put their different Agricultural Skills to good use in their different Agricultural endeavours.
Each of them is to receive between 1-3 million Naira. They had since started receiving the funds, and the Governor personally confirmed this during one of his monthly media chats.
They are to be provided with the necessary incentives and guided and supervised to succeed, while they will be expected to train others in their different wards.
Till today, nothing reasonable has been heard about the 30 Cobblers Ikpeazu took to China since their return to Nigeria. I challenge Ikpeazu’s Spokesman, Onyebuchi Ememanka to show Abians a piece of evidence of what their government did to empower and establish them after their return to Abia.
Same last year, Governor Otti disbursed over 1 billion naira to Nano and Micro Businesses across the 184 wards of the state. It wasn’t done in the secret, even though we didn’t pay premium television stations to air it live like other states do and get applause from our critics. It was well publicised and the names of the recipients are well documented.
While the Old Abia Propagandists are busy publicising announcements of yet to be executed projects made in neighbouring states, in their infantile attempts to prove that there’s someone or persons doing better than Governor Otti, Abians who see and feel the visible projects being done by Governor Otti, are celebrating him wherever he goes.
The critics are yet to show Abians something like the 67 Kilometre Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abiriba-Ohafia road that is being executed with speed by Governor Otti led-government.
They are yet to point at any abandoned and dilapidated building structure that was completely reconstructed and retrofitted like what Governor Otti did at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Secretariat.
They are yet to show Abians where any of the neighbouring states they are praising approved 20% of the over 17.5 billion naira approved by Governor Otti for the payment of salary arrears owed by the same Old Abia Propagandists.
They have not shown us any of the Governors that inherited or has paid a dime in pension arrears compared to what Governor Otti has done.
They have not pointed at any Civil Service of a state that was left half as destroyed and demoralised as they did in Abia Civil Service, where thousands of people did not have ordinary offices, were not being paid, and had no job descriptions let alone the tools to work with.
We are very happy that Abia under Governor Alex Otti is being compared with some states that once had some sane, responsible and visionary Governors who didn’t spend their allocations hosting parties and enjoing themselves, at the expense of development in Infrastructure and Human Capital Development, that alone is an admittance that the traces of mediocrity that followed Abia over the years have been erased.
It’s important to remind our critics churning out all kinds of lies and disinformation, especially, Dr. Ikpeazu’s former Information Commissioner and his present Spokesman, that Governor Otti’s desire is to put smiles on the faces of Abians through good governance, and not to seek the same applause with which they ruined Governor Ikpeazu and ensured he left a conspicuous legacy of destruction and underdevelopment in Abia.
