Ohuhu Youth Council, a political pressure group in Ohuhu community, Umuahia North Local ernment Area of Abia state has resolved on the criteria for vying for political position to represent the people of the community.

The youth body from the clan stated this in her monthly meeting for the month of September 2021 held on Saturday, 18.

In a communique issued by the youth body, it stated that they will hence forth accept only candidate massively chosen by the people.

The need to project a youth to take up the mantle of leadership in the political slot of the community was also paramount, noting that their sole aim is to support a youth and to ensure that a credible leader who has the interest of the clan at heart should emerge from Ohuhu come the next general election, especially the State House of Assembly representative.

Addressing journalists after their meeting, the leader of the group Chief Chinedum Obilor Iyierioba, popularly known as Fayose of Ohuhu land hinted that Ohuhu is made up of two blocks namely Umuhu and Okaiuga. He added that more effort will be made to give their total support to any credible candidate and oppose any idea imposing candidates by top political names.

According to Chief Obilor, ” any part of the Umuhu block is free to contest and qualify after scrutiny for the ticket to contest.”

Chief Chinedum also used the medium to advice members of the group to be vigilant, shun violence and ensure nobody uses them for political thuggery.
