The feature photo of this article which is also at the middle is that of my youngest sibling. Her name is Oluchi. We, her siblings, have not seen her since 1974 but something tells me she is still alive. I have thought about her every so often since her sudden disappearance in 1974 and I have resisted every temptation to talk about her in the past.

Her story:
We were orphaned very early in our lives, my parents having died within ten months of each other. My oldest sister who got married just before my father died, took Oluchi to Lagos in Nigeria so she could look after her. My sister was the mother that she knew. One day, on that fateful rainy day, Oluchi stepped out of their apartment to the front of the house and within seconds, she was gone. She was abducted! Frantic efforts were made to find her but none was successful. She was only 5 years old at the time of her abduction. She is still a missing person.

Someone may ask why we’re still searching. The answer is that hope springs eternal in the heart of the living. Until we have closure or we all (her siblings) die, we will continue to search for her. So much has happened within the intervening period and hopes have waxed and waned, memories have faded but our memory of her will never fade.
