The Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises-Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) Project in Umuahia, Abia state on Friday held a 2-day Basic Working section on Book keeping and Account Records with incubators of LIFE-ND project in the state.
Speaking about the training was Mr. Alozie Daniel Ikechukwu, the Abia State LIFE-ND project accountant. He said the need for the training was a directive from the national project coordinating office.

In his words; “They discovered the essence of integrity in financial reporting. Based on that, it is expected that after the training, our incubators at this stage of our project will come out with a standard report on accounting record of information that could be relied upon”.
Mr Alozie also hinted that it was noticed during inspection that some of the incubators lack the knowledge of proper accounting and book keeping record which became a source of concern for the national body of the project and instructed on the need for the training.
Also responding to the cause of the training was Mrs Akpata Samuel O. ,the finance officer Abia LIFE-ND. She also added that the trained incubators will in turn train the graduating (Incubatees) beneficiaries for the sole purpose of keeping basic and appropriate record for them to have proper financial record of their businesses.

The target of the training is for the project to be on track so that the next batch of beneficiaries of the agro training program will be properly trained and informed on the basic necessity and need for proper accounting and recording.
Also part of the training was Mrs Favour Azubuike, the state internal Auditor, Abia LIFE-ND.



The LIFE-ND Project is being funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development(IFAD). The project is ongoing in the nine Niger-Delta States.
Also involved in the project are the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, The Federal Ministry of Finance, budget and National Planning and the United Nations.
