A political commentator, Emmanuel Igwe, has questioned recent comments by Hon. Ginger Onwusibe criticising the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and what he described as 24 years of poor governance in Abia State.
In a statement from Umuahia, Igwe said Onwusibe was an active participant in the state’s political leadership during the period he now condemns and should therefore avoid what he termed a selective interpretation of history.
According to Igwe, Onwusibe benefited politically from the same system and cannot completely distance himself from it. He urged the lawmaker to acknowledge his role in the past while addressing present governance issues.
Igwe also challenged Onwusibe to highlight his achievements since assuming a higher legislative office, arguing that public office holders should be judged by tangible contributions rather than political rhetoric.
He added that support for the current administration should not involve rewriting history, stressing that governance must be based on accountability and measurable performance.
Recalled that the federal lawmaker had said that” Governor Alex Otti’s tenure in the governance of Abia State marks a conspicuous shift in the narrative of the state’s governance, insisting that No administration is without critics and challenges but comparing the past administrations of Abia State with the present led by Dr. Alex Otti, is like comparing hell and heaven, retardation and progressiveness or in the popular local parlance – Egypt and the beautiful land of Canan aptly described in the Bible” Ginger posited
