The President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide High Chief Engr Chidi Ibe, MFR has expressed sadness, rude shock over the death of Prof George Obiozor describing him as a National icon whom he said contributed immensely to the development of the country through various positions he held in the country.

Engr Ibe who stated this yesterday in a press release he issued said that the death of Obiozor was a loss to Imo state, Ndi Igbo and Nigeria as a country extending his heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, Awo mmamma community, Oru East and Imo state over his demise.

High Chief Ibe further assured that Ohanaeze under his watch will immortalize Prof Obiozor whom he referred to as a revered elder brother and a man who has paid his dues in the academic world and International relations as a former Director General of Nigeria Institute of International Affairs and Ambassador of Nigeria to USA, Israel and Cyprus.

He however noted that himself and the late icon Prof. Obiozor maintained a pious conduct, dignified maturity and respect for each other throughout their period of contestation on the President General’s position of the seat of Ohanaeze Ndigbo adding that both in life and in death, he would continue to accord the late elder statesman his deserved respect as a formost academic guru and an administrator promising to carry on with the leadership of Ohanaze Ndi Igbo with all the dignity of the exalted office.

He prayed God to grant the soul of late Prof Obiozor an eternal rest, and to those he left behind to mourn him the fortitude to bear the loss.
