While Nigeria workers were celebrating the 2022 “Workers Day” on May 1, 2022, the Executives of 23 support groups of Amb. Bishop Emeka Nwankpa in Abia state stormed Umuopara, Umukalu Ntigha, Isiala Ngwa North Local government area of the state, county home of Amb. Nwankpa.

The group were on ground to urge Amb Nwankpa to avoid crisis ridden Social Democratic Party (SDP) and look for another platform to realise his Governorship ambition in the coming 2023 general elections.

The group led by Hon. Chimezie Orji alias “Akaharanu”, accompanied by over 100 Hundred Executive Members of the support groups, said they came to meet Dr. Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, not just to pledge their support and loyalty but to tell him, that the various groups in all the 17 LGAs of Abia state have resolved to follow him to any political party of his choice, except the Social Democratic Party ( SDP).

In the words of Hon. Orji: “My Lord Bishop Sir, we the Executives of 23 Groups including ” Aziza Igbo” a group under the All Progressives Congress (APC), which I am the State Coordinator, have come here today being 1st of May, 2022 to urge and encourage you Sir, to join any party of your choice so you can help us to fix Abia, as we are poised to dump APC and other parties to follow you.

” We are aware of the moves by the Social Democratic Party ( SDP) in Abuja to drag you into the Abia Governorship race through their platform, SDP but our investigations reveal that the party is factionalized, therefore we are here to urge you to forget SDP, chose another platform and be assured we shall stand by you always”.

In his contribution, the Coordinator of Bishop Emeka Nwankpa Foundation, Comrade Larry Chinesom Egbe, said Bishop Emeka Nwankpa has the capacity to fix Abia state, describing him as a man of integrity, whose records of services and empowerment have endeared him to the hearts of Abians, especially the silent majority.

Responding, Amb. Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, PhD, said the visit was a shock to him as he was not expecting them, but promised to get back to them in few days times.

Bishop Nwankpa enjoined them to be focused and lamented that 30 years after the creation of Abia and despite the tag of an Oil producing state, Abia state lacks virtually all the infrastructures that qualifies her to be called a state.

Adding that, it’s a shame that Abia state has no government house building but still operates in a rented apartment, Umuahia the state capital has no pipe borne water, state civil servants and pensioners are owned many months of salary arrears and bad road networks.

He insist that Abia needs a man of integrity, with the fear of God, noting that corruption, occasioned by the recycling of old politicians that have nothing to offer the state are part of Abia problems but promised them that the will of God will happen in 2023.
