The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Restitution and Inquiry set up to investigate SARS-related abuses has awarded 10 million naira compensations to two victims of police brutality.

Two petitioners, Kudirat Obayomi and Hannah Olugbodi were awarded the amount each as compensation based on the panel’s recommendation.

Recall that the panel was set up by the federal government of Nigeria as one of demands by the protesting youths over reoccurring level of police brutality in the country.

The panel set up across the country has been receiving petitions of police brtality but the Lagos State arm of such panel is the first to offer such compensation as a verdict to a victim.
