Empire Sports Academy, a new generation sports club with skillful talented and athletic young football players is gradually waxing strong in building up a formidable football team in Umuahia, Abia State.
Taking out time to watch the training section of the growing football academy on Thursday at the Umuahia township stadium was Hon. Kelechi Onuzuruike,
Member representing Umuahia North in Abia State House of Assembly.
Hon. Kelechi’s presence motivated the players as they watch him take the kick-off shot of the match training section.
Speaking to newsmen about the enthusiasm to watch the training section of the new generation Empire Sports Academy football team, Hon Kelechi hinted that he was at the training section to watch his home team train and possibly engage in a friendly match with Abia Comet football Club.
In his words: “This is my home team, and I am here to watch them play and to give them support. I decided to watch them train and am happy to be here.”
While answering questions fed by newsmen about the level of sporting activity in the state, Hon Onuzuruike affirmed that sports activities in Abia state is currently in the right pace and shape. He also hoped for more effort to maintain the lofty height of football activity in the state, so as to compete with other football rivals in the Nigeria.

Nigerian Ambassador to Argentina, concurrent to Chile, Uruguay and Peru. A chieftain of PDP and Pioneer member Board of Trustees People’s Democratic Party (PDP) 1999.He revealed that the football team is working hard in preparatory to football youth tournament in Abuja which will feature 50 participating Football Academy/clubs and scouts/Agents from Spain and Portugal.The tournament is scheduled for 23rd May to 28th May 2021.
