A devastating fire outbreak has consumed the residential home and properties of Mr. Ekwueme Ikechukwu Chike, an indigen of Abam, Ubakala in Umuahia South local government area of Abia.state.

The ravaging inferno which would have consumed Mr Ekwueme and his family started at about 10:30pm on May 19, 2022.

In an investigative report by candidreporters.com at the country home of Mr. Ekwueme, the entire building and his property wasn’t spared by the ravaging inferno as he narrowly managed to successfully evacuate his family from the burning building.

Mr. Ekwueme narrated that he cannot be specific about the cause of the fire but suspects that it may have been ignited by high electric voltage from the distribution line of Enugu Electric Distribution (EEDC) to his building.

According to Mr. Ekwueme, the fire incidence emanated from his sitting room while he was in the bedroom with his family.

In his words: “I sighted the fire from my parlour and I managed to remove my wife and last born. The smoke engulfed the whole building, the source of the fire is still unknown to us but we suspect it is a high voltage problem from EEDC.

Mr Ekwueme is appealing to members of the public and Abia state government beto come to his aide by assisting him to get alternative means to shelter his family and bounce back to life and to his responsibility as the head of his home.

“You can see how the building is raised down by the fire. Am pleading on well meaning individuals and Abia government to come to my aide.” Mr Ekwueme pleaded.
