In a passionate call to action, the Abia State National Assembly Liaison Officer, Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, has urged Abia creatives to seize the opportunity provided by the Creative Economy Development Fund (CEDF) to elevate their craft, build viable businesses, and export Abia’s creativity to the world.
Speaking in reaction to the recent unveiling of the empowerment initiative by the federal government, Hon Chinasa earnestly implored Abia creatives to grab and maximize the opportunity to the fullest.
“Without any shadow of doubt it is true that from fashion houses in Aba to filmmakers in Umuahia, Abia creatives are among the best in the world,” Hon. Chinasa stated. “The raw talent is undeniable. What many of our gifted youths and professionals need is the right support and structure to take their creativity to a global stage, and that’s what the CEDF is here to offer.”
The Creative Economy Development Fund, a federal initiative aimed at empowering Nigeria’s creative sector, is offering funding, mentorship, and tools to help creatives scale their impact and monetize their talent effectively.
Hon. Chinasa highlighted that this is Abia’s moment to rise, stressing the importance of proactive participation by creatives across all fields, including filmmaking, music production, photography, design, fashion, content creation, animation, to digital marketing and beyond.
According to Hon Chinasa, to access this golden opportunity, interested Abia creatives are advised to take the following steps:
- Fill out the official CEDF Application Form on the CEDF website (http://www.CEDFNigeria.com).
- Submit all required documents before the deadline on June 30, 2025*.
- Be prepared for follow-up questions or requests for clarification during the evaluation process.
Stating that successful applicants could receive as much as $100,000 funding, Hon. Chinasa emphasized that the federal government initiative is not only about financial support but also a veritable platform to connect Abia creatives to national and international markets, mentorship from industry veterans, and access to the kind of infrastructure that builds lasting creative enterprises.
“Let us not sit back and watch the world talk about Africa’s creative revolution while we cheer from the sidelines. Abia must lead. Aba must roar. Abia North, South and Central Senatorial Zones must rise to the occasion and shine.”
He concluded by calling on local associations, youth groups, community influencers, and stakeholders in the creative industry to help spread awareness and support eligible applicants through the process.
To all Abia creatives, Hon Chinasa emphasized”This is your time. Let your ideas speak, let your craft shine, and let your vision take flight as the Creative Economy Development Fund becomes your runway.Take off, take flight and take your place”
