Dr Cosmos Ndukwe, a presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 presidential election has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over his choice of members of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Board of Directors.

The former Deputy Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, described the nominees as “competent hands with track record of efficiency”.

He expressed optimism that the infrastructural deficit in the South East geo-political zone would soon be addressed.

Recall that Tinubu had last week, forwarded the list of the nominees to the Senate for confirmation.

The list which was updated within 24 hours comprises former Minister for Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu as Chairman); Mark Okoye (Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer); former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Toby Okechukwu (Executive Director of Projects); and former Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Stanley Ohajuruka (Executive Director of Finance); among others.

Ndukwe who recently joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in a statement on Monday, expressed confidence in the capacity of the nominees to deliver “considering their antecedents and wealth of experience”.

The former Abia State Commissioner for Works, said that “with experienced and visionary patriots as members of the SEDC board”, the objective of the commission would not be defeated.

“I have no iota of doubts that with the quality of members of the SEDC board, the President’s vision for South East development will be realized. They will use their wealth of experience and expertise to actualise the Commission’s mandate”.

The former Chief of Staff to Abia State Governor, further said that with the establishment of the commission, infrastructural gap in South East would be bridged.

“We now have a Commission that will address the issues of marginalisation and infrastructural dilapidation in South East. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has engraved himself on the minds of our people by signing the SEDC Act into law which his predecessors could not do”.

The ex-presidential aspirant also commended the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for sponsoring the SEDC Bill, describing him as “a proactive and visionary leader”.
