Some aggrieved women from Oke-Ere, a community in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Wednesday staged a protest against what they described as the “endless reign of terror” unleashed on their people by armed kidnappers and Fulani herdsmen. In a video circulating on social media, the women, mostly elderly, appeared half-naked as they marched through the community with mournful chants, lamenting the incessant attacks, kidnappings, and killings that had plagued their town for months. The Federal Government says its naira-for-crude initiative with local refineries is not a temporary measure but a “key policy directive designed to support sustainable local refining”. The government also said the initiative is still in effect and will continue immediately, overruling the decision of the decision of the NNPCL under its former boss Mele Kyari which tenured the initiative. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, senator representing Kogi central, has filed a N5 billion suit against her colleague, Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, over alleged defamation. The suit was filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan through her lawyer, Michael Jonathan Numa, at the federal capital territory high court.
