House of Representatives’ Constitution Review Committee is set to conduct public hearings across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones next month. The Nigeria National Coalition Group (NNCG) has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) seeking to register a new political party ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. The request was contained in an application letter, dated 19th June, 2025, and was stamped received by INEC on 20 June, 2025. President Bola Tinubu has visited surviving victims of last Friday’s brutal attack in Yelewata community in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. Tinubu visited the North-Central state following the attack which left over 59 people dead and several others injured. Appeal Court Set Aside Final Forfeiture Order On Properties Linked To Emefiele, Directs Case Retrial
The Court of Appeal in Lagos has set aside the final forfeiture order on several properties and assets linked to Godwin Emefiele, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and directed a retrial of the case. In a ruling delivered on 9 April 2025, a two-member majority of the three-man appellate panel found that the Federal High Court in Lagos erred in permanently forfeiting the properties to the federal government without adequately evaluating the evidence before it.
