The former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Anyim Pium Anyim, is reportedly in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC).

Anyim arrived the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Sunday afternoon.

While there isn’t yet official confirmation on what the EFCC is questioning him about, a source reportedly said the former senate president is allegedly linked to a case involving Stella Oduah, former minister of aviation.

“Anyim’s invitation and interrogation is in connection with a case of money laundering involving a former aviation minister and serving senator, senator Stella Oduah,” the source is quoted as saying.

“Investigations revealed that part of the aviation ministry’s N780 million was traced to a company in which senator Anyim has an interest. He is presently cooperating with investigators.”

The link to Oduah, senator representing Anambra north, comes days after a report alleging that she acquired four London properties while she was serving as minister of aviation.

Candidreporters.com gathered that a Pandora Papers project led by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), revealed leaked documents on Oduah acquiring the said properties through an offshore company between 2011 and 2014.

Meanwhile, Anyim’s interrogation comes months after Ekumankama Nkama, an ex-commissioner in Ebonyi, withdrew as surety for the former lawmaker, who is under investigation by the EFCC for reportedly using firms in which he had interest to award contracts to the tune of N13 billion from the Ecological Fund Account domiciled in his office.

The former senate president was arrested in November 2017 and later granted bail, with Nkama standing as his surety.
