ABIA LGA Polls: APC Candidate Lists PDP Caucus Allegedly Behind Suspected Election Fraud

The Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Chief Kalu Mba Nwoke, on Friday allegedly listed some PDP caucus who he said had perfected plans to rig the ongoing local government election in the state.

The state’s local government election was scheduled to hold on friday as conducted by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC).

The state’s electoral body is headed by Prof. Agu Mkpa Agu. He assured a free, fair and credible election during a live interview with flo fm 94.9, Umuahia during the commencement of the election process.

Sensitive materials arrived late Thursday night. As at 11:15 am, on Friday, sensitive and non sensitive material were still leaving the Ohafia secretariat for various wards and polling unit.

Observations from the scene at the secretariat reveals high level of sensitivity amongst the party agents in ensuring that the process of districting the electoral materials are void of any negativity.

Speaking to candidrepoters.com about the hopes of the election, The APC candidate in Ohafia local government, Chief Kalu Mba Nwoke raised alarm about the delay of the election process

His words: “It’s a deliberate act to disenfranchise people from voting. It’s past 11am and I wonder how many hours voting will now take.”

When asked if he suspects any wrong act towards the election process, Chief Kalu said; “My concern is why the deliberate delay, we have been receiving reports and we are not afraid of that.

Chief Kalu alledge suspected foul play in the election process by the ruling peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

“The PDP stallwards in Ohafia like, chief Okpai, the Deputy governor, Chief Ude Oko Chukwu, the deputy speaker of Abia state house of Assembly, Hon. Uchendu, Hon. Kingsley Maga and whole lots of them. We have been receiving reports of thumb printing going on in their various locations, but we are waiting for them. It’s one thing to thumb print, it’s another thing to smuggle it in, we are waiting for them to see where they will dump them, Chief Kalu alleged.

He however hoped that the election will run smoothly but added that ” what ever it’s going to be, we are ready for them.”

In a swift reaction from Okechukwu Agu, a PDP stakeholder, he said; “it’s an empty threat and allegation, such thing is not in position. I so much believe that ABSIEC has done a lot of scrutiny to ensure proper conduct of the election. All the security agencies are on ground to ensure everything goes smoothly for credible polls.”
