The management of Methodist High School, Aba, Abia State has prided the institution as a citadel of moral, character and academic excellence in the state as the academic institution is set to mark its silver jubilee in a grand style.

The institution is inviting also lovers of good deeds and education to join in the prospect of achieving the project.

The Methodist High School, Aba was said to have been founded in the year 2000.

While responding to questions fed by newsmen, Elder Uwakwe Maduka, CPC chairman said the school has survived without government financial support as a missionary over the years but has delivered excellence by contributing to quality education in the state and country in general.

On the achievement of the school, Sir Emma Ndukwe school board chairman said the institution got accredited for all major national exams such as JSCE, WAEC, NECO in 2006.

He also hinted that the school has gotten national recognition, multiple wins in the national Bible quiz competition, won prizes in national essay competitions (e.g., Nigerian Stock Exchange), poetry, and mathematics Olympia as well as recognized as the best exam malpractice-free center in Abia State (2008).

It was also said that the school has in record distinguished alumni and graduates that are excelling as first-class graduates, lawyers, engineers. doctors, and professionals across their various chosen fields.

It was also revealed that Methodist High School, Aba, participated in the National Sports Festival.

Students of the school have also been recognized for publishing student-authored book, award-winning school magazine, and character formation.

The school management gave visionary steps to achieve in the next 20-25 years as:

  1. To become a driving force for nurturing innovative thinkers, compassionate leaders, and resilient problem-solvers
  2. To fully realize the founding vision of integrating Godliness with exceptional holistic education to produce transformational leaders of model character.
  3. To operate from a state-of-the-art permanent site with expanded facilities, including modern CBT (Computer-Based Test) centers and vocational skills training centres.
  4. To expand reach and quality through the development of the already established second campus in Owerri-Aba, envisioned as a full boarding facility.

On the current challenges of the Methodist High School, the management highlighted incomplete infrastructure as a major challenge which has been said that plans to upgrade the school is to relocate to the permanent site, which remains unfinished as the current temporary site is constraining and limits expansion.

Responding to the question on how Methodist High School Management will meet up with the current secondary school curriculum recently released by the federal government, Most Rev Godfrey said the achievement of the fund raising will be a boost despite the fact that the school is very equipped with ICT to meet the current demand. He also advised that the federal government should have given enough time, especially for schools who would find it extremely challenging to adjust for teachers retraining and recruitment as well as acquiring needed technological facilities to meet the current curriculum adjustment.
