For several months, some funny characters who ripped off Abia state in the past by embezzling State allocations, Paris Club Refund of 22 billion naira, Loans, Bailout funds, Ecological Funds, Internally Generated Revenue and other accruals, have been levelling unverified allegations against Governor Alex Otti and his government, especially as it concerns hundreds of billions of nonexistent loans they alleged that the present government has taken.Sadly, these guys have never tendered any documents to substantiate their ridiculous allegations.
Just recently, Governor Otti revealed that his government had paid down a huge chunk of the loan incurred by the previous government, but as expected, the angry propagandists masquerading as oppposition elements dismissed his statement and rather resorted to infantile media attacks and misrepresentations.
Just a few hours ago, the Debt Management Office (DMO), exposed their ignominy and hypocrisy by releasing the most reliable national data which shows that the Otti government is topping the chart with huge gap as the number one state in the country with the highest amount of debt repayment.
According to the Debt Management Office (DMO), Abia achieved a historic
57.20% reduction in its domestic debt portfolio between March 31, 2024, and March 31, 2025 — the highest percentage drop recorded by any state within the period under review. Did I hear someone shout; excellent? Yes, excellence is the best word to describe this feat.
Since this report was made public, the dislodged children of anger have gone into hiding. They have refused to discuss the subject matter, pretending not to know that it exists.
They have refused to apologise to those they had misinformed and misled through politically-motivated despicable lies. The facts as released by DMO came like Iron Mike Tyson’s punch- devasting and destructive.
As days pass by, it continues to become more manifest that we are dealing with a toxic, disingenuous, dishonest and dishonourable opposition that has vowed not to see Abia get extricated from the mess and misrule it was plunged into over the years.
The wish is that Alex Otti will never succeed for bringing their reign of ruins to an end, but we thank God that man’s wishes do not determine God’s executions.
