The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has demanded the release of all detained Electricity Workers and threatens national shutdown in power supply as they express shock over the level of gangsterism and unprofessional behavior exhibited by the Nigeria Military as they took over the Corporate Headquarters of Ikeja Electric and its Oshodi Business Unit.
Some Military Personnel from NAF Ikeja Base had invaded the Corporate Headquarters and Oshodi Business Unit Offices of Ikeja Electric on Friday morning.

NUEE revealed that the Military got provoked because they were disconnected from the source by the company for non-payment of their huge outstanding electricity bill.
It was gathered that the security operatives acted so unprofessional in a commando style destroying properties, beat up and molested every staff on sight.
Some personal effects such as phones, laptops, vehicles, office doors/equipment and gadgets were also reportedly destroyed by the military personnel.
A reliable source from the NUEE also revealed that the soldiers took away the Oshodi Business Unit’s Commercial Manager and some staff.
It was also gathered that 13 drivers with their Pickup operational van vehicles were also moved from the Corporate Headquarters to the military’s headquarters where they were tortured and treated like criminals.
“They unleashed terror on our members.The Military carried out this brutal and barbaric action against our innocent members because they were disconnected by the Company for non-payment of their huge outstanding indebtedness”. The source said.
In a statement titled; “Military Invasion Of Ikeja Electric”,
released by NUEE, it condemned the invasion of the military and demands immediate release of staff members and medical care for all staff beaten and wounded.
The statement reads;
MILITARY INVASION OF IKEJA ELECTRIC
“The National Union of Electricity Employees strongly condemn unequivocally this dastardly act from the Military and demand immediate release of all adopted members.

“We also demand an undertaking from the Management, Federal Ministry of Power and the Defense Ministry to protect our members from any further traumatizing attack of this nature. We urge the Defense ministry to call their men to order.
“We also demand that all staff properties that were taken or destroyed should be replaced and those beaten should be taken to hospital for adequate medical treatment.
“Consequently, our members are advised to stay out of the office till further notice because we cannot work under brutality, intimidation and threat to life until safety of life and properties are assured.
Otherwise, we will have no choice than to withdraw our services nationwide until we are guaranteed safety and protection at the workplace.”
