The Umuahia residence of Rt. Hon Enyinnaya Chinedum Orji, the speaker of Abia State House of Assembly was on Tuesday stormed by group of youths who identified themselves as “Ikukufied Youth Movement”.

The group said they were on ground to urge the Rt Hon. Enyinnaya to declear interest to run for the office of the Abia state governor come 2023 general election.

Ike Bishop, the spokesperson of the group while addressing newsmen on ground about their quest said they are youth who believes in the personality of Rt. Hon. Enyinnaya Orji and it is the reason they are on ground to persuade him to declear interest to run.

In his words; ‘We believe in the personality of Ikuku and we are here to call on him to run for the office of the governor come 2023.

“He is a young person that will help for the emancipation of Abia and the youths entirely.”

While pressing for more answers to questions fed on the reason behind the call, Ike Bishop said “it is because of the latest zooning pattern of the PDP”.

“You know what is happening in Abia state today, basically Abia is trying to be divided across clans and tribes. We have looked around and we discovered that Ikuku is the only young person within the system that we think that cannot only win the gubernatorial seat but can create a change and uplift the youths. We are looking for youths inclusiveness in governance.” Ike said.

The group which claimed to be from the 17 local government areas of Abia state also holds the view that Enyinnaya Orji is the youngest of all aspirants that has decleared interest to run so far under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Citing one of the visible achievements of Rt Hon. Enyinnaya Orji, Ike revealed that while in office, the speaker recently enrolled 1,500 youths for ICT training and has already trained 500 Youths, provided them with brand new laptops. He also argued that Ikuku has done what the state government has failed to do for youths.

“So as a legislator we think he has done well and he deserves to be given that exalted office.

“We are here to tell him to go ahead and we are solidly behind him. We don’t know if he has interest to declear, we are here to ask him to do so.This crowd you see here is very small to what you will see when he declares.” Ike Bishop said.
